• Hypersaline: TDS greater than 35,000 ppm

Drinking water generally has a TDS below 500 ppm. Higher TDS Fresh Water is drinkable, but the taste may be objectionable.

So, how do you ensure that the water you drink is safe for you and your family?

Traditional approaches

Whether you have a dedicated water purification system or a filter or just want to check the quality of your tap (or bottled!) water, there are several ways you can do it. Unfortunately, each of them has its downsides.

Lab testing:

• These tests are relatively pricey. Remember that testing your drinking water quality is not a one-time thing. It should be done consistently.

• Many people find using these kits and reading the results afterward to be a surprisingly complex process, which makes the results even more questionable.
